Problems with Rural Water Supply Systems
Currently, 52% of rural water supply facilities in Korea are aging systems that have been in operation for over 30 years, affecting water supply quality and bacterial contamination levels.
The existing water purification method, rapid filtration using sand layers accounts for 77%, reverse osmosis accounts for 19.4%, slow filtration accounts for 2.1%, and disinfection accounts for 1.2%.
However, these methods have limitations, as they may not completely eliminate microbial contamination and heavy metal contamination.
